We woke up really early to vote today.  We got to the polls as soon as they opened (6:00 AM) and cast our votes, then we changed into our workout gear and took a drive with the intention of going to a local park to do some running.

Well, it didn’t work out that way.  We were in some morning rush hour traffic and, when we finally were close to our destination, the road that led to the park was closed… in both directions!   We tried another nearby park, but the parking area there was shut down due to fallen trees from Hurricane Sandy.  Finally, after driving around for about an hour in traffic, we just decided to go home.

Once we got home, I went out for my run.  I knew that if I didn’t do it then, I wouldn’t want to go later.  It was around 9:00 AM when I started the workout and it was really cold!  I was shivering and my teeth were chattering, so I limited my warm-up walk to about two minutes, then I started running.  Once I got going, the temperature was a lot more manageable.

I began the run with some pyramid intervals for the first 2.5 miles.  Then I took it easy for the second half of the run.  I felt like I could have run for another mile or two, but I was tired and opted to go home and take a nap instead.
