Running with Charity Miles

I’m always looking for new ways to use technology while running.  I’m also always interested in finding easy and creative ways to help others.  So when I discovered the “Charity Miles” app, I was so excited!

Charity Miles is an app for iPhone and Android that donates money to the charity you choose from their sponsored charities for every mile you walk, run, or bike.

Charity Miles uses your smartphone’s GPS to determine the distance you’ve traveled and will donate 25 cents to charity for every mile you walk or run, and 10 cents for every mile you bike.

Now, I know you might be thinking, “Only 25 cents per mile?  That’s not very much!”  But it really does add up!  I run between 10 and 15 miles per week at this point, and I hope to increase my mileage to 15-20 miles per week within the next couple of months.  Let’s say you run 10 miles a week, every week.  If you use the Charity Miles app every time you run, that’s $2.50 that will be donated to charity every week because of your workouts!  In a year (52 weeks), the total would be $130 donated to charity just because you worked out!  That’s awesome!
